Just finished first testing and the bloody thing worked!
Nice glowing bottles and I even managed to wire the switches the right way (channels 1&2...).
Now off to build the box and 1x12" cabinet.

Ok, it's just for testing purposes. I'm going to build a cabinet with a "real" speaker later, now I only want to see if I've managed to solder everything to their right places...
Hi, I'm about to start testing my m1mk15 and I have on old Marshall Valvestate 10 (W) amp with 8ohm 8" speaker. Would the speaker be suitable for testing, any idea? M1mk1 manual talks about 25W speaker
and I don't have a clue about the valvetstates' wattage.
I wouldn't want to blow up the OT....

I should have understood all this but I've only dealt with stomboxes (DC) and here are the results:
2-6: 224V
8-9: 260V
11-12: 23.1V
13-14: 7.25V

Hi,
Do you mean that in this phase when I have wired only the primary side, I can measure voltages only between
lugs 2 and 6, 11 and 12, 13 and 14 for the right results?
I wired the primary side: lugs 2 and 6 at the transformer, plug socket, fuse F1, the power switch and the center lug of plug socket to the chassis and measured the voltages at the power transformer (against star ground) and got wierd results:
PT Primary side pin2: 0V pin6: 220V
PT Sec. side: pin8: 33V pin9: 35V pin11: 15.5V pin12 19.9V
pin13: 14.7V pin14: 16.1V
Results were obviously wrong and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I tried to check that every wire goes to the right place (I know that this could be where I'm doing a mistake but so far I couldn't find a mistake). Any guide lines what to do or does this sound familiar to anybody? I'll post couple of pictures tomorrow.

I've wired the power section and now's the time to measure the voltages at the transformer.
When measuring the voltage at a certain lug what should I use as the other point/ground:
the chassis or some other point which is marked as "ground" at the schematic like the 3'rd lug at the power
plug which is connected to chassis with the short wire?
Does it matter to which lug (PT 2 or 6) I solder the wire from power switch (SW3) and the wire from the fuse (F1)?
I do understand that the same voltage is to be found at both lugs but I had to ask...
Same question applies to the other lugs/connections.

I know I'm dealing with lethal voltages and when I ordered the kit earlier this year I had actually no knowledge about how tube amps actually work (I've had several tube amps though...). So it's been very rewarding because I've read hundreds of pages about tubes and tube related circuits and now I have some (vague) idea what I'm dealing with.

Hi, I'm building the m15mk1 and finished drilling the chassis
and the main board and power board are ready (and checked and
measured several times - though I know that the problem is always
lurking somewhere...) and got couple of questions.
Tha plastic over the chassis - am I suppose to take it off or what
have you done with it?
So far I have built stompboxes and never dealt with the shrink tubing
and wondering about it's installation. Should I slip it on the wire
before soldering and then (after soldering) drag it on the joint
and heat/shrink it, or is it just delivered as tube and I can use it
the way I see as the best like cutting it open and wrapping the
piece over the joint and the heat?
How do you work with your project after installing the transformers,
meaning that most of the work then happens on the other side of the
chassis?

I think that a footswitch-kit for changing channels (M15Mk1, as it was not part of the original kit) would be a great idea and one that I would be ready to pay for. Clear instructions, parts, wire and the switch and maybe a box for the switch.

If you're still stuck in a weeks time post here again and I'll rip mine apart and e-mail you some very high res piccy's with my new digi-cam. Can't this week though as I'm about to go on holiday.The only thing is that my amp has the optional footswitch circuit built in so it may be slightly different to yours.
