• Hi,
hat vielleicht jemand schon mal mit den Press-n-Peel-Transferfolien
zum aufbügeln von Leiterbahnen auf Platinen gearbeitet?
    Irgendwelche Erfahrungen?
    http://www.banzaieffects.com/Accessories-c-575.html

    Bin drauf aufmerksam geworden,

    Hi Mark.

I don't know the prices for PnP over there, but here you pay roughly 1$ per single sheet of paper whereas a glossy magazine which you can use as a print medium costs less(I use glossy junkmail, that comes free) :)

BTW: Just love your BoxDesigns to heaven and beyond ;)

    Hello markm,
my english is not the best also, so its no problem ;)

I like to design a aluminium-housing with your method
as shown in your galery and i like to know: Is it very difficult?
    I made some PCB's with the "Iron-Method" so I'm not a real beginner ;)

    btw: Your designs really rock!!!

    Danke!
Over here in the USA, Pnp is about $2 a sheet which is why I just cut little squares out of it as needed!
There are a few people I know of that have used photo-paper successfully in place of the Pnp and come up with a very good etch.
I have never tried it but, it could work quite well!

    Danke!
It is more time consuming than difficult. Alot of the work is the preperation. Sanding the aluminum enclosure flat takes time as well as the masking.
Ironing on the Pnp is the same as making a PCB, the only difference is that it stays in the Ferric Chloride only a few minutes.
    Aluminum etches Very Fast!
If you take your time and follow the procedure you can get a really good looking enclosure! The most important thing is how well prepared the enclosure is.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I will try to help the best I can!
I'm not here at Musikding alot but, You can PM me at diystompboxes too.
    Danke! ;)

I apologize about taking over this thread in English, I forgot about it.
    Sorry,

Ok, so let's forget about english. Just do it in american......

Oops, sorry. Thing with the fag is the other way. In England smoking a fag just means , having a cigarette.
I should listen more often to my wife.

Question: What is in your opinion the deepest you can go with etching??
Did you try some multipass etching, for more Moollon like looks?

    M

My opinion is to keep the etch shallow, about .011"- .015"
This is about the size of a "B" string on a guitar.
If the etch is much deeper than that, it begins to lose detail.

This one is a good example, alot of detail but the etch is shallow.

    Hello,
another Question: I want to try to etch some closures and don't have any FeCl3. Can I use HCl, H2O2 or both? Is the etched aluminium with HCl and/or H2O2 still black?

    btw: Your enclusure are amazing.

    greetings

    Thank you!
I have no experience with the other chemical but, at diystompboxes.com there are some threads there with information.
I've only used FeCl for this. Quite cheap and readily available in the USA.
