J5mk1 OT and Voltage questions

    Hello Martin !

    I can see on the low resolution schematic of the j5 that you use a PP output transformer for a SE power amp! :o So does it work correctly? Does an upgrade with an SE OT would improve the sound a little? a lot?

    And what is the B+ voltage ?

    And do you plan a mk2 version?

    Hi Nicolas,
    all PP OTs can be used as SE OTs (for guitar), when used with much lower current (30-50%) then specified to prevent saturation. An upgrade to a SE OT would improve the sound, especially the bass would be better (if the OT is of appropriate quality ;))
    The plate voltage is about 300V.
