A15Mk1 earth question

  • Hello,

I am building the A15Mk1 kit, and I have a question, on page 27 of the manual there is a picture of the soldering of the send and return loop. There is wire (the yellow non-isolated one) going from the plug socket (earth connections) to the hole in the terminal strip. This wire is connected to the star ground. But the middle hole of the terminal strip is connected to the chassis! The star ground is isolated from the chassis, is this the correct way of soldering the parts?

    Thanks,

    Hugo

I'm only on the page 17 but I could say that the earth ground is not isolated of the chassis, they are linked, in opposition of an older version of the a15 where the ground (chassi) and the eart (of the wall) are linked by a 100ohms resistor

but it is possible that I don't understand very good your question in the way where i'm french and only have the bases of english langage.

Then I must have the old version, because the star ground is connected to the ground by a 100 ohm resistor.
    Thx for your reply

    Hi all,
you're right, there is a change for the connection of star ground and earth. But if it's a 100 Ohm resistor or just plain wire, in both cases there should be only one connection from star ground to earth (as shown in the layout plan). The plain wire from the send/return doesn't touch the hole in the terminal strip, it only connects the two shieldings of the cables to the plug sockets.
    Regards,
    Martin

    Oke,

Thanks Martin, I am changing it now, then one more wire and I am done, can not wait to try it out.
