• Hi people...
In the A15Mk1's that I've bielded the volume pot of channel 2 don't cut the sound 100%.. even with the pot in 0 I hear sound coming from the amp.. is it normal? how can I cut all the sound?

  • Re: A15Mk1 Volume pot

yes.. they are all ALPHA pots...

the sound that come frome the speakers seems to be the preamp sound.. the more gain I have the more the sound become louder..

  • Re: A15Mk1 Volume pot

So turn off the amp, pull the power cord and measure the resistance from the middle lug of the volume pot to ground, when turned completely off. Is it 0 Ohm? Otherwise the alpha pots also have this problem (I've never faced that problem with alpha pots) >:(
    Regards,

Hi, I have the same problem,
Alpha pot and some sound comes out of the speaker (channel 2) even if the volume pot is off! The more I increase the gain the more the sound becomes louder..
I made the check you said measuring resistance from the middle lug of the pot and the ground when the pot is completely off and I measured 0 ohms!!!!!
Is there any wiring mistake or some other issues?
I used revision 1.4 (27.05.2006) instruction to build the amplifier!
    Thanks a lot.

  • Re: A15Mk1 Volume pot

I've tried to debug the problem.. but i don´t know where is the problem... so i'm gonna try to explain the problem the best i can..
    - with the volume pot of channel 2 set to 0 (all closed) and the gain pot turned up (any position).. the sound continue to come out okf my speakers more gain i have more sound comes out of the speaker..
    - it seems to be like a high pass filter since that the frequencies that goes thru are the high (no bass... like a bee)
    - slowly i have raised the volume pot.. a little.. and more.. and more.. and those frequencies seems to be there all the time.. it remember the "treble bleed" used in the guitar pots..

    any help with this description?...

I assume you don't use alpha pots right? The "cheaper" ones sometimes don't have 0 Ohm when turned off, you can measure that at the pot. The only solution is to change the pot :(

Maybe a Ground problem in the pre-amp (CH2)? (not only the volume pot.. but before the pot volume) can it be?
