M15Mk1 for recording!

  • Hi there!

    As I've mentioned earlier in my posts that I'm planning to use my M15Mk1 kit in my band's studio session, I'm proud to announce that it has won the sound comparison tests with Peavey JSX, Marshall JCM800, Peavey Classic and Koch Studiotone!

    We'll be using the M15Mk1 kit for all rhytm guitars, all cleans and as an effect for some bass lines.

    Signal chain as follows: Guitar(Gibson type, HB's & P90)->Stompbox eq->Tubereamer2 "custom"(TS-type pedal, DIY, schem from runoffgroove.com)->M15Mk1->Marshall 1935 4x10" & H&K 4x12"(Vintage30).

    You can find out yourselves how this thing does in a full mix, we're putting songs out on our website during august '06.

    If you're interested in samples of just the guitars, please contact soon, so I can ask for some snippets=)

    Pretty cool to use selfmade equipment. I can imagine a band wants to use the equipment everyone uses, but this is brave. Good luck!

    I will be interested to hear the results - if you get the time make sure to pop back and remind us once your website is live!!

    The guitarists in one of my bands love the sound of the M15Mk1 but like most guitarists don't have the money to buy one and me and the guitarist in my three piece project are going to try a comparison between an A15MK1 and and a late 70's Peavey Deuce for our live sound.

    Madamp - Amp Mad more like!

    Yes, I'll be sure to tell when the site is open...just couldn't wait you know :P

    I think it's great to use self-assembled gear, although we spent many hours playing and fiddling around with other amps, just to be sure ;)
    For us, I think it'll turn out to be great, can't speak for everyone though.
    Style we play is this low-tuned rock, like Qotsa, Kyuss, Monster Magnet...etc....

    If I can get the cabinet ready, we'll take the amp live next week, keeping my fingers crossed that it won't fall apart during the set...

    Hello there!

    All guitar and bass parts are now recorded but my M15Mk1 kit didn't make it onto the HD. :-\

    We ended up using Koch Studiotone for all guitarwork(rythm, lead, clean, slide, feedback), it just did the job perfectly, using the M15Mk1 would have been a compromise...soundwise. Koch has all that little extra(grit, shine, body, definition...) that makes the sound "pro"... ;D

    M15Mk1 came very close, though...
