Can I replace the (universal) 125E trafo for the (audiophile) hammond PushPull Trafo type 1615 for de A15mk1.

Hi,
as I'm using a 8k primary impadance at the 125E, the replacement type would be the 1650E, using the 1615 would IMHO change the sound too much...

This shall be my first own build tube amp.
I read that the sound quality depends on the quality of the PT en OT trafo (and elco's).

Do it make sense in your opinion that i replace the standard trafo for the 1650E or must i use an Shinrock trafo (much more expensive) or is your advice: don't replace at all!

A guitar played through hifi equipment sounds terrible. Great guitar tone comes from the limitations of tubes, non-fullrange speakers, limited frequency response transformers etc. Use hifi components and the sound will be different, but not necessarily better.

If you want a better bass response, you should use the Hammond OT, otherwise the 125E is fine for this type of amp (it's the same size as the Deluxe OT)
