• Hallo!
So, despite being very new to this I'm now officially addicted to pedal building assembling... I have made 3 so far (Engineer's thumb, Green Russian Muff, 3-verb), all working surprisingly great, received the 3 next today (Hard One, Kliché Mini, Caesar chorus) ; looks like I'll have most of my old pedals replaced before next year.
But I suspect noise or signal loss may become an issue, having all that tiny color wire in series. Any recommandations on this? Is heavier wire more difficult to handle, and will it make a big sound difference soundwise on multiple pedals?
(I'm also considering a looper switcher when i'm done with the new toys)

  • I think the problems will less be the wire gauge and more the audio jacks. If noise becomes a problem there is things like buffer and Noisegates. Actually, I find myself having had this problem and I implemented buffers and a Noisegate and for some time now I keep all that off, because I still have low noise without.

In general, you should not expect to run too many pedals at the same time. I constraint myself a bit with space on a handleable floorboard. So I will not use more than 10-15 max. Usually there are not more than 3-4 active at the same time.

  • Right, I don't plan to have more than 10-15 on my board and only a couple on a same song. I have a buffer in the first place on my Boss TU-2.
I've tried the 0,5mm wire on the Hard One boost and I was just able to go through the pcb holes, so I think I'll stick with that gauge whenever it's possible.
