Tube screamer mod : type of switch ( to be sure)

    Hello every body, i loved doing the fuzz face (thanks to the forum for the help since i was a total beginner)

    I would like ton continue to make diy pedal and i don t have any overdrive. So i believe a tube screamer is a good choice. I would like to go a little further and make 2 mods : TS9/Ts808 swith and clipping mod.

    The only thing i got is the diagram. I m not sure about the switchs (i dont have liste of material). I dont find the answer on the internet

    • das musikfing answered me the ts9/ts808 was a toggleswitch DPDT
    • so i believe the clipping mod switch is a toggleswitch SPDT. Is it ok or is it another type of switch? (i dont really understand how it works)

    Hi,

    in my opinion the mode switch between TS9 and TS808 is kind of meaningless because there is only a very slightly audible difference in both modes. You will need a normal DPDT Switch (On-On) for this.

    Normal Clipping option is a bit more audible but I would suggest you to go for a different selection of clipping diodes such as Si, LED, JFeT or Schottky to have more options.

    For the normal clipping option shown above you need a normal SPDT switch.

    If you want up to 4 or 8 settings you could add one of these instead of your normal diode pair.

    • i read opinions which are same as you for TS9 TS808 switch. Depends on the free space in the enclosure i might not do it (thanks for the information). I liked the idea to compare TS808 and TS9 but if there is really little difference and i have no room i wont do it
    • The roto tone deluxe set is very interesting. I will try to use it with the diodes options you gave

    Hi ! Quite same question here!

    Mini dpdt switch and mini spdt switch are necessary, or normal size switches are little enough for the 125b size enclosure?

    For the ts808/ts 9 and clip modifications, there no other things to buy?

    Normal Size switches are small enough.

    If you only wan´t the Sym./Asym clipping option,you didn´t need to buy other Parts,but the hearable different between those 2 options is so low,that the switch is so superfluous,that I recommend to leave it or try a switch with more clipping options.

    the switch for ts808/9 Mode is unbelievable more superfluous cause you wouldn´t hear a difference,than the clipping switch,i recommend to leave it,than better use it for a other Mod,for expl.: Fad Mod or so.
