Hi! New to this forum, but I could use some help. I'm a beginner, and tried to build the "the kay" tremolo I bought at Musikding. When I turn on the pedal, the volume immediately drops. I hear the chopper-effect, but the notes I play are hardly coming through. The speed knob goes from slow to fast and than again superslow.. I checked all the resistors, they are the right value. I measured all my cable connections, signal is coming through. I think the capacitors and the resistors are ok, but not sure. Maybe you guys can help me out? I included the schematics from the musikding website, pics of my pedal! Thx! ![]()
The Kay tremolo problem

Hi,
Did you check the Type and Pinout of your Transistors?
Best regards,

Hey Jeroen,
I couldn't find any big mistake, by some solder points could be cold (for example the forth from the top on the right, D3). As it is not too many solder points, I would just reflow all of them with a tiny bit of fresh solder (or flux) and see if the problem is resolved.

Good luck,
Matthias

I would Start by checking if you got 10k resistance between R11 and C6. I don't really know how T4 affects this, for this measuring you might want to remove it. My theory is, that if a charged C6 bleeds towards T2 and T3 with less resistance you would experience a quick volume drop.
I think the Part with the speed knob cannot be involved as the 'trem' effect in general works (right?).
