• I have buy two A15Mk1 and I want to run it in stereo into 8Ohms (2x12" speakers 8Ohms each) but I want to make a 2x12" extension cab so then I have a problem with the impedance... :-\

-I don't gonna have any major problems if I plug a 4Ohms load into the 8ohms output of the Amp?
-Do I have to put an external impedance transformer to change the 8Ohms into 4Ohms?
-Or, is it better to changes the output transformer of the amp?.. (in this case sugestions for the model are needed, pleeease).. is it simples to make that mod?

    Thanks for the awnsers

  • Re: A15Mk1 impedance

If I understand the problem correctly you have to wire the cabinets as it is done in many commercial cabinets. So you can use the cabinet stereo with 8 Ohms per speaker or the cabinet is mono with 16 Ohms (speakers wired in series).
So if you want to use the extension cabinet just plug each amp in its own cabinet with 16 Ohms.

but with 16Ohms the output volume decrease.. that's why I prefer run into 8Ohms.. but with 2 A15Mk1 and 4 speakers with 8Ohms is impossible unless I use another transformer to drop the 8ohms to 4...(or changing to another output transformer to have 4, 8 and 16Ohms options)

No problem, you can use 2x12" each with 8 ohms in parallel, you just have to wire the output transformer in a different way to have a 4 ohm output. I will check my documentation at home and come back this evening with the information, how to do that...
