Hello all,
i want to buy a kit to build a little amp, since i live in a apartment i was looking for something that will not crush my windows while playng so
two amps has catched my attention: they are the Madamp g3 blues and the J5MK1, i am now undecided between them.
While i see that the G3 looks extremely simple to build and has some good features (for example the tweed champ has volume only) the j5 looks like to have more control options,
more gain, power, mods, and also it looks like that is possible to use different kind of tubes.
The g3 uses the 6F1P, 1 6N1P and 1 6N6P, i cannot find any decent informations about those valves, expecially for the 6F1P, for example almost nobody sell 6F1P replacements, neither musikding!
I do understand that the tubes will last for some years and probably i will never need to change them, but in case of need i don't want to trash the amp because lack of replacement.
Also im uncertain about the quality of that tubes and which sound they will reproduce.
I don't have much knowledge about electronics and guitar amplification but i've read some articles around and they say that this set of tubes are not really maded for instrument amplification.
Can someone give some detailed information about that? is this true? How is the sound quality?
I play mostly blues and rock, sometimes i need some gain from my amp, how goes the G3 is that?
many people said that is very very clean, is that true? I was planning to install a weber 10 or jensen 10 speaker on it.
About the J5, from item description: "Flexible sound, from clean and crunch to overdrive with tons of gain" so the J5 looks totally different amp from the G3 right?
I fear to loose the "bluesy" sound that i may get with the G3, but i feel to be more safe and versatile with the j5mk1, i am confused ![]()
Any advice?
Thank you and sorry for my bad english!
