G3 Blues , voltage at V1-6 is 206Vdc instead of the 105Vdc in documentation!!!!

  • Hi All,
I have assembled the G3 Blues kit and measured the points according documentation.

    Measurement: should be: is:

    • Wall Socket, 230 Vac 230Vac
    • V3,4-5 6,5 Vac 6,2 Vac
    • Br1, ~/~ 208Vdc 215Vdc
    • A, lug 21 t, 260Vdc 267Vdc
    • B, lug 18 t, 237Vdc 244Vdc
    • C, lug 18 b, 225Vdc 231Vdc
    • V1-1 225Vdc 231Vdc
    • V1-3 81Vdc 81Vdc
    • V1-6 105Vdc 206Vdc
    • V1-7 1,2Vdc 1,2Vdc
    • V1-8 110Vdc 123Vdc
    • V2-1 185Vdc 193Vdc
    • V2-3 50Vdc 50Vdc
    • V2-6 166Vdc 174Vdc
    • V2-8 3,0Vdc 2,9Vdc
    • V3-1 251Vdc 261Vdc
    • V3-6 254Vdc 262Vdc
    • V3, 3&8 10,5Vdc 10,5Vdc (both)
    • R13, lug 10 b 47Vdc 45,8Vdc
    • Wall Socket, 230 Vac 230Vac

As you can see, the voltage at point V1-6 (measurement nr. 9) is far to high.
206Vdc instead of the 105Vdc according documentation.

I checked soldering points and resistor values, no strange findings.
    Please advise!!

    Regards
    Toon Steenbergen

  • Hi Bernd,
    Thanks for the advise.

I suspected something to be wrong in the R6 & R3 circuit. But it turned out to be a bad contact of pin 9 IN the V1 socket.
Perhaps some deformation or dirt due to soldering.
Cleaning with a paperclip solved it.
(So at the end, indeed R6-circuit... :), and the static voltages are okay)

Now waiting for my daughter and her gitar, to test the sound.
    It is a daddy-daughter project 8)

    Regards
    Toon S
