Hi!! I'm building the Madamp A15Mk2 and I have some doubts on the documentation. The one that I have shows the old transformers not painted in black. It is the revision 1.01 dated 07.12.2008. Is this the last revision or do I need a more up-to-date one?
Doubts on the A15Mk2 documentation

Don't worry: no one is going to answer you... I've asked many times. Martin Adams tell me about "additional instructions", if you ask musikding they don't answer you... So you just have to be faithful...
funny thing: I've discovered that the topics about it have been deleted... -
HI,
the documentation 1.01 is correct, i build my a15 with same docu in august this year and it works fine.

Hi,
there should be a document called "Modifikation A15Mk1 Rev14.pdf" (in the German version) which comes with the building manual. This describes the changes for the newer (= black) OT.
For the PT I made a document which is not part of the official (MAdamp/Musikding) documents.Bernd

I cannot find this rev14 pdf. Thank you Bernd for the pdf about the power transformer.
I just wanted to be sure that if I biuld the amp with the documentation I have everything will be ok, because I don't have the time to find differences between the old and the new version.
At the moment I'm finding the wiring of the transformers a bit tricky. In particular I have shortened two wires in the otput transformer to solder them toghether and now it seems that the metal is lacquered. It's kind of difficult to remove the lacquer and connect them well without damaging the cable.
Moreover the angular metal pieces I received, to fasten the PT to the chassis, are not right and so two screws don't fit in the holes... -
All,
please be aware, that the documentation for A15Mk2 already includes the same information on the ATRA0427 (Output Transformer) as the additional document for the A15Mk1 and the M15Mk1, so there is NO additional document for the A15Mk2. Unfortunately the Supplier did not only change the colour (now black) but also the wiring scheme and just recently the mounting angles. I'm really sorry but this has been done w/o any prewarning so Klaus was also surprised by this change. Regarding the wiring I will create a new document soon (wating for photos of the new OT version from Klaus) but regarding mounting I need to change the chassis specs and let Klaus' supplier produce new ones, so this will take some time.

Ok thanks for the reply. In the meantime I will fasten the PT with only two screws and I'll try to figure out how to wire the transformers correctly. I hope I won't make mistakes!

Please Martin, we need to get a last answer about it: First you said that A15MK2 needs NO additional document, then "Regarding the wiring I will create a new document soon"...
So, surely I'm a little bit stupid but: If someone build an A15MK2 with the actual documentation and the actual wiring for the OT, is doing a correct wiring? Yes or NO?
Please, answer like this: YES or NO.

No answer...

OK, I've double checked the documentation for the various Madamp kits against the latest specs from the manufacturer of the OT and can only repeat what I said above:
1) the wiring instructions in the manual for the A15Mk2 (there is NO additional OT wiring document to the A15Mk2 manual), the additional OT wiring documents for the J5 and M15 contain consistent information and are in line with the wiring instructions of the manufacturer
2) I will update the documentation with a new picture of the (now black) OT to avoid confusion about the look of the OT. This will not include new wiring instructions
If you determine, that the wiring instructions seem not to be in line with the OT you've received, please contact me.
Regards,

Thanks Mad!
I guess the only things that have changed with the new transformers is colour and dimensions, but the connections are the same. So we can follow the old instructions without making mistakes!
I have completed the wiring of the transformers and of power tubes. By the end of the week I should have finished the assembly of my A15!

Thanks for the update!

Martin
