help with OPT from J5MK1 kit amp.

  • Hi, I've got some questions about OPT. Sorry for my horrible english :P
I don't know what to do with the four black wires that you can see on the photos.
How can I connect the OPT right?.
I've seen in another thread ( http://forum.musikding.de/vb/showthread.…6134#post346134 ) that the plug conections are 6-12 and 7-13. The other thread says "add4" the resistance are 253 ohms. that's like in my output transformer, but to archieve that resistance I need to connect plugs 1-18. Is this needed?
I don't know which plugs I need to use for the connections

    thanks for your help

  • Hi,

did you receive the additional PDF "Modifikation J5Mk1 Rev24a" with the building manual?
Did you read (and understood) this document?

And what do you mean with "plugs" - the solder lugs (solder connection points) of the transformer???

    regards

    Bernd

  • Hi Ebernd
Thanks for answering so fast, I have not received any additional PDF Rev24a. I've looked at all my email folders. I appreciate you to send me the version V24A, to solve the problem of how to connect the OPT and review with the new version all the building I've made the kit

    Thank you very much.
    regards

  • Hi,

you have to adress musikdingshop (not the forum where we are here) for this missing part of your order - because it is not public.

I hope you understand my explanation.

    regards

  • Hi Bernd (sorry for my horrible inglish)
I have been in contact with musikdingshop and I explained my problem. My building manual is rev2.1c. Is my building manual too much wrong? Are some parts good of my the building manual or all is wrong?

    thanks

  • Hi

I don't think that your Manual is wrong. But there has been a change of the output transformer years ago (for the models J5, A15 and M15).
Therefore an additional document has been created (and distributed to the customers) which describes the differences in connecting the "new" transformers - as you've got one.

    regards

  • Hi Bernd
    I've got the manual rev2.4a
To use 8 ohms speaker I've to connect lug 1 and lug 18 signal ground, lug 7 and lug 13 or lug 6 and lug 12 primary side of the OT and Connect lug 4 and lug 15 for the secundary side of the OT. Is that correct? also have to be the four black wires together? It's necessary connect four black wires too? I hope you understand the questions

thanks a lot for your patience

  • Hi,

    Zitat

To use 8 ohms speaker I've to connect lug 1 and lug 18 signal ground, lug 7 and lug 13 or lug 6 and lug 12 primary side of the OT and Connect lug 4 and lug 15 for the secundary side of the OT. Is that correct?

Why do you ask? Isn't the manual rev2.4a in English? Or don't you understand what you are reading? I would only repeat the things which are in the (extra) manual.
In other words I don't understand your question. ???

It's necessary connect four black wires too? I hope you understand the questions

It's only necessary if you need the 16 ohms output - because this is the 16 ohms output. My advice: Solder the four wires together and insulate the end if you don`t need it.

  • Hi Bernd

Sorry for my horrible english, thanks a lot for your patience, You helped me a lot. I finished the kit and it works, the only thing in the fat switch not hear the difference between on and off. But the amp sounds great.

  • Hi, I have also a question about the OT for J5mk1.
At page 5 in the manual Modification rev. 2.4a, it says that pin 7 of V3 should be connected to lug 13. But on the picture it seems to be connected to lug 12.
Is the picture right or the text?

    Best regards
    Jan-Erik
