Lineal Clean Boost - question on potentiometer

  • Hi all,
I just finished building a Lineal Clean Boost, starting from Musikding PCB.
Now the question is, why is the potentiometer working in "negative". I thought that setting the pot to zero would mean "unity gain", and slowly increasing the knob would add +dBs to the signal. But what I got is that the pot to zero equals NO signal, and I reach unity gain ar around noon. From there on, the circuit starts to add dBs.

Did I build something wrong, or that is the way the circuit is supposed to work?

Thanks in advance for any help :)
    Denny

  • The Potentiometer in the Lineal Clean Boost is wired at the very end of the Signal chain.
So everything is fine. When you turn the pot to zero, no Signal will pass through.
If the Pot was wired as a gain pot, with a minimum of 1 (I dont know if this is possible with the Lpb-1 cuircuit) then the pot turned to zero would mean unity gain.

So you did everything right. :)

  • Thanks Lucas,
so basically I ordered the wrong PCB :D Does anyone know if it's possible to wire the pot as gain instead of volume?

    Much appreciated,
    Denny

  • Assumeing normal volume at noon, you could wire a 50k resistor between lugs 1 and 3,
and put in another 50k between lug 1 and ground.

    edit:
lugs 2 and 3 should be connected too.

I will give it a try, thank you!
