Madamp A15MK2 Deluxe problem

  • Hello,

I've just finished building the kit, and there are some problems.
    That is the situation:
At first one jjecc83 didn't turned on like the other 3, and the amp didn't worked.
Now i changed it and the clean channel is working pretty well but i've to wait more than 5-10 minutes to hear any sound from the amp. I guess it is a common issue of tube amps. The main problem is with second channel (Hi gain one). With boost activated the volume is really low. When boost is not activated (the switch makes a crack sound on the cab when pushed), the gain knob adds a lot of volume, instead of the volume pot which adds very few volume.
    Hope you'll help me :)

    Hi and welcome,

first of all, it's NOT normal if it takes 5-10 minutes for the amp to warm up and produce sound. Usually it should take something around 30 seconds. My guess is there's something wrong with the wiring.

Did you measure the voltages given in the schematic? Any values that differ more than 10%? If the switch makes a "pop" when you through it, there may be some DC potential on the switch, which indicates either a wiring error or a leaky capacitor. If you can, post (preferably detailed!) pictures of the inside of the amp.

  • Hello Nils, thank for the reply :)
i solved all the problems concerning the hi-gain channel, the ground connection of the volume pot wasn't soldered properly. I checked the voltages and are equal to the schematic.
So the only remaining problem is the warm up time for tubes. Now the heating voltage i checked is 6,2 V AC in each tube. I'm going to post deitaled pics of the amp wiring soon :)
