I have been converting my G2 build into a stand alone reverb unit, and have been rebuilding it into a larger chassis.
I finished the reverb driver stage, which is basically the G2, but using a 12AX7 instead of the Russian tube so I can have two 12AX7s together, one in the driver and one in the recovery stage. I thought I'd better try the driver amp to see if it was working and work it did.
Only one problem, it sounded like my Mesa/Boogie running flat out, massive overdrive, fantastic tones and overtones, and every note ringing through. I could not get it to clean up at all, not good for a reverb driver, but great for lead guitar work. Other thing was it wasn't as loud as it was before, running the amp flat out was the perfect practice volume for my studio.
I have looked at the schematic and I've put the wrong tube into the output section, I've used the 6N2P as the output tube instead of the 6N1P, question is, will this do any damage? Other than to my ears I can't see why not.
